Now and then sometimes you have to start a call or transfer at least.
I've just found this call and I acknowledge that as an important part of SO36 in Kreuzberg culture, I want to pass it. Wigstöckel, Cafe Fatal, Honeyball and concerts. The SO36 is always different and always important, Therefore, it would be a shame, if it would not give this space.
The story somehow reminds me of a story, which existed in Hamburg. Someone pulled next to a sports field and then sued the noise… Somehow broken….
SO36 – 30 YEARS WITHOUT WALLS ARE ENOUGH
The collective of Culture- and music events SO36 in Kreuzberg Orange Street this year celebrates its 30th anniversary.
But the SO36 is currently threatening massive. An ordinary neighborhood conflict disturbance has expanded to existence-threatening crisis. Ultimately seems a several meter high sound barrier, the only way, to secure the continued existence of the SO36 in Kreuzberg.
What happened? In recent months there have been complaints of a neighbor, feels disturbed by SO36 through his kitchen window.
We tried everything in our power, to arrive at an amicable solution, as a good neighborhood climate has always been important for us. The mutual respect is a basic building block of the diversity, the Kreuzberg distinguishes. It was not us this time, however, possible, to resolve the conflict bureaucratic. The latest development is a formal arrangement of Economic- and clerk's office of the district.
On 27. February, we received a letter pads for noise reduction. Of course this means a letter is not the end, but we can not meet these requirements as initially. For the, what is officially noise reduction in residential- and is called mixed-, means for us to concretely: Concerts in “Quietness of rooms”. To arrive at an amicable solution, ultimately there is no way to extensive building acoustic measures in SO36 over. Focus of these measures is the construction of a noise wall next to our building be. The SO36 is however not in a financial position, to bear the costs for the construction of the wall.
Without support, this means the end of SO36.
30 Years SO36 in Kreuzberg
Since 30 Years is reflected in the re-SO36, what Kreuzberg is loved and hated. Since 1979 We work in and with the neighborhood for affordable Culture. 30 Years SO36, that is 30 Annual collective, left and gay and lesbian underground culture in collaboration with countless social and political projects.
The SO36 is one of the few training companies in the neighborhood, which currently 6 Trainees! In total, there are well over 50 People, who work through the SO36 in their neighborhood, from the living and the SO36. We are old, young, gay, lesbian or vice versa, We are punks and students, Jobbers and permanent employees, About- and lower-skilled. Many of us have an immigrant background, have roots in Anatolia and the Maghreb, im Breisgau or Cottbus.
We do not just talk it – We are the cultural diversity in the neighborhood! We are not a new alternative to media Spree and restructuring, We have been here long, and by and with us Kreuzberg has become the first to, which today makes it so extraordinary and far beyond the confines of Berlin known.
As before, we use not only commercial and current trends – we do almost everything on subculture, from punk and hardcore to hip-hop by and with young people from the neighborhood to schwullesbischem ballroom dance with German pop music. A highlight is our monthly neighborhood bingo benefit of social and political projects, sponsor the profits to the shops and pubs of the area.
What we want
It was 30 Years not a problem to operate the SO36 so as. Just as the elevated train since 100 Years rattles through the neighborhood at night and despite reorganization still louder than we, must be maintained and the SO36. In recent years has also changed quite a bit with us. Through a variety of investments to improve sound we have become more efficient and quieter. But there is a limit, where it can go no further. We can not and will not organize concerts and parties on low volume.
District and city to find a solution! There are those often cited constraints, available to the survival of the ways in SO36, but it is a political decision. If it is possible, To adopt large-scale projects such as the O2 World million grant for infrastructure connections and noise-Special Regulations, then it may not be possible, to finance a noise barrier for SO36.
We are a cultural, social and economic enrichment.
Why we demand of district and city:
- Give us money for a sound barrier, so that we can continue our work.
- It is not the time to lay the stones in the way of SO36, but to create conditions, so it goes. We do not need lip service still runs, but concrete support! It's about the decision for or against our culture.
We are loud and we want to stay, not against, but with our neighbors.
We will not give up without a fight.
Was du tun kannst:
We call for a political solution, Thus, the policy must also learn, that this problem affects many.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
I've heard the SO36 based on an official requirement to reduce noise through the district of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg acute threatened closure. Due to this arrangement, only structural measures seem (Sound barrier) to ensure the preservation of SO36.
In my opinion it is the duty of the district framework for the coexistence of Kita and Culture, To create and live in Kreuzberg Nightlife!
I urge you as lish political leaders to, to provide financial resources for a sound barrier available, so that the SO36 remains as a socio-cultural place the neighborhood!
